The novelist line is an author-led distance course where you learn the craft of novel writing and start or continue a novel project. We believe your story can make a difference!
It is not only analyzes and investigations that change society, but also the stories that the people in society carry. In order to create such a story, it is important that you trust that what you have experienced, that the everyday life you live in and that what you want to tell has value. On the Novel Writer Line, you get support in creating stories that make a difference.
Romanskrivarlinjen har en teoretisk del som är sammantvinnad med en praktisk del. Du lär dig romanskrivandets hantverk genom att skriva på ditt projekt samtidigt som du regelbundet diskuterar ditt skrivande med kursledarna.
At Romanskrivarlinjen, we constantly work with your project at the center. All text submissions, assignments, chats, discussions, tutoring sessions and writing lessons are there for you to get deeper into your project, get more tools and become bolder in your way of creating.
Var tredje vecka är det textinlämning ur det egna projektet, som kommenteras av lärarna. De andra veckorna ägnas åt skrivande och åt en uppgift som är knuten till det egna projektet. Dessutom får du varje vecka coachning och handledning av läraren.
Most of the tutoring takes place online, but 3 Saturdays per semester, the Novel Writers Line arranges a workshop IRL in Gävle. Also then, everyone's project is in focus. In the online classroom there is also a cybercafé where the participants hang out, discuss typing problems and give each other advice on literature, web links and other things.
The course participant will be able to take the language from thought to hand through their knowledge of novel writing's various design principles, such as organizing the text into concrete scenes and acts, creating an engaging text with forward movement, and chiseling out a functioning protagonist. The participant will also be able to place their project in a larger literary and societal context.
In order to participate in the course, you must have your own computer with internet connection and a word processing program and your own smartphone. You should also have basic computer skills. You should have a novel started or have a clear novel idea.
You apply to the course by sending in a prose text of 3–6,000 characters (approx. 1–2 A4) from your novel project and a personal letter (max. 3,000 characters) in which you describe your novel project and say a few words about yourself.
We expect your novel to be written in Swedish in order to be able to provide the best tutorial possible. However, you do not need to have Swedish as your mother tongue. With us, the story is in focus.
We believe in your commitment!
